Another interesting example appears in Unit A9 in Practical Approaches: Adolescent Years Part 1, one of a set of six handbooks produced to accompany the Devon County Agreed Syllabus. A very imaginative piece of teaching, using similar ideas to those discussed in this article, is described which seeks to communicate the religious meaning of Divali for Hindus. However, in the same unit an outline treatment of Christmas and Easter focuses on the folk customs of these festivals and not on their religious meaning.
