  • Given the changes in interpretation in patent law regarding what counts as "natural," whether Wall and Wani might have been able to patent taxol is a moot point. The fact is, they did not. By the time a company might have wished to take out a patent, it would have been inadmissible on other grounds (i.e., lack of novelty).
