For reasons to be explained in the paper, the commonly‐used word “barriers”; fails to capture the entire range of reasons for behaviors such as leisure nonparticipation, ceasing participation, etc. Thus, except in quotations, the more generic and comprehensive term “constraints”; is used in this paper.
