  • It may be noted that there is a small reduction in the transition temperature of the N-SmAd transition, and also of SmAd-Nre transition (at higher IUV). Considering the reasonably high UV intensity used, local heating of the sample cannot be ruled out, which is known to diminish the transition temperature. Thus, even taking the variation seen for the N-SmAd to be arising from such an effect the far larger changes observed for the other two transitions should be related to photoisomerization.
