• The distribution function f(Δ) has two large peaks corresponding to the molecule oriented parallel or antiparallel to the cavity axis. In the diffusion-in-a-cone model the potential barrier between the peaks is infinitely high and π-jumps of the molecule are prohibited. For the Maier-Saupe expression for f(Δ) π-jumps become possible but at high <ρ2> their probability is extremely low (at least for the times t ≲ 1 ns considered in this paper). In this limit the substantial difference between our approach and the diffusion-in-a-cone model disappears
