  • 8. Eisenstein proposes four definite types of dialectical montage: ‘Metric’, ‘Rhythmic’, ‘Tonal’, and ‘Intellectual’. The shot duration for each is ruled by a certain factor. For ‘Metric’ it is a predetermined length, for ‘Rhythmic it is the action, for ‘Tonal’ it is the emotion, and for ‘Intellectual’ it is a comment on a person or ideology.
