• At Southern Illinois University two experiments are currently underway in the general area of speech delivery. In one, two different techniques for teaching “vocal variety” will be tested. In another, a filmed speech and the same speech without the picture will be presented students in a basic speech course and their comprehension and retention of the main ideas of the speech tested. Our plea is for more experimentation and for more syntheses of our findings so that we may be able to generalize and talk with a little more assurance about delivery.
