  • Knox , MacGregor and Murray , Williamson , eds. 2001 . The Dynamics of Military Revolution , Cambridge : Cambridge University Press . The authors say that "military globalization can be conceived as a process which embodies the growing extensity and intensity of military relations among the political units of the world system … it is helpful to distinguish between three different facets of military globalization: the global reach of the war system (great power rivalry and conflict); the global arms dynamic … and the expansion of geogovernance of security and military affairs." The authors go on to argue that all states "are now enmeshed, albeit to varying degrees, in a world military order." This world military order is defined by a world trade in arms, worldwide diffusion of military technologies, and "the institutionalization of global regimes with jurisdiction over military and security affairs" (89).
