NOTES
- The sigla given for the Trent Codices follow RISM B IV5; however, MSS 87–92 may be more familiar under the siglum I-TRmn and MS 93 under the siglum I-TRmd. The shelf-marks of MSS 87–92 are now 1374–1379, and that of MS 93 is BL.
- Sturgeon's Gloria-Credo (G28/C23) are proposed as a pair because they agree in style, mensural usage and final, and the clef of the solitary discantus part for the Credo is consistent with the clef pattern of the Gloria. Moreover, there is every indication that the scoring scheme for the Gloria—four sections alternately scored for two and three voices—was reproduced exactly in the Credo, probably as follows (bar numbers as in CMM46): a2 a3 a2 a3 Gloria 1–6 7–35 36–45 46–76 Credo 1–6½ 6½-45 46–60½ 60½-98
- Damett's Gloria-Credo (G45/C26) are proposed as a pair because they share the same style and mensural scheme O-C-O. The discrepancy in clefs and finals can be explained in terms of simple transposition (cf. a similar discrepancy between the constituents of Damett's pair GC5).
- Gloria attributed to Bruollis (Brollo) (G89) is proposed as English because it is melodically and texturally close to the English style, and follows a typically English mensuration scheme. Most other works by this composer seem to belong to the period and ambit of GB-Ob Canonici misc. 213.
