- A solution of 5-iodo-2′-deoxyuridine (2.0 g, 5.7 mmol) and 4, 4′-dimethoxytrityl chloride (2.1 g, 6.2 mmol) in dry pyridine (2 mL) was stirred for 12 h under Ar. The reaction mixture was concentrated on a rotory evaporator (0.2 mm Hg) to a gum. Flash chromatography (MeOH/CH2Cl2, 5:95) provided nucleoside 4 (3.1 g, 4.7 mmol; 83 % yield)
