• The reactor vessel uses an inert gas for fluidization of the support in the reaction mixture. Subsequently, excess reagents used in the synthetic cycle are removed by dilution followed by filtration. Due to high carry over of reagents contained in the pores of CPG (up to 40%),44 displacement of reagents by dilution requires multiple washes of the support. Experiments performed in our laboratories have demonstrated that effective removal of excess reagent is observed with washing carried out without gas driven agitation. This technique is especially effective during detritylation, due to the non-equilibrium conditions, thereby suppressing the reversibility of detritylation reaction.
