The Influence of Craniofacial Morphology on Mandibular Border Movements

Tomoki KataokaDr. Tomoki Kataoka received his D.D.S. degree from the Health Sciences University of Hokkaido in 2005, and his Ph.D. in 2009 from Okayama University. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthodontics, Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University, Okayama, Japan. His major research interest is the analysis of mandibular movement, masticatory muscle activity, and craniofacial morphology in orthodontic patients.

Noriaki KawanabeDr. Noriaki Kawanabe received his D.D.S. degree from Kyushu Dental College in 1998, and his Ph.D. in 2002 from the same school. He is a senior assistant professor in the Department of Orthodontics, Okayama University Hospital, Okayama, Japan. His major research interest is postnatal stem cells derived from extracted teeth of orthodontic patients.

Noriko ShiragaDr. Noriko Shiraga received her D.D.S. degree from Okayama University in 2006, and her Ph.D. in 2011 from the same university. She is a resident in the Department of Orthodontics, Okayama University Hospital, Okayama, Japan. Her major research interest is the relationships between temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) and clinical orthodontic treatment.

Takashi HashimotoDr. Takashi Hashimoto received his D.D.S. degree from Okayama University in 2003, and his Ph.D. in 2008 from the same university. He is an assistant professor in the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Graduate School of Dentistry, Tohoku University, Sendai, Miyagi, Japan. His major research interest is the analysis of jaw movements in orthodontic patients.

Toru DeguchiDr. Toru Deguchi received his D.D.S. degree from Aichi Gakuin University in 1992, his Ph.D. in 1996 from Okayama University, and his M.S.D. from Indiana University in 2001. He is an associate professor in the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Graduate School of Dentistry, Tohoku University, Sendai, Miyagi, Japan.

Shouichi MiyawakiDr. Shouichi Miyawaki received his D.D.S. degree from Osaka University in 1989, and his Ph.D. in 1994 from the same university. He is a professor and chair in the Department of Orthodontics, Field of Developmental Medicine, Health Research Course, Kagoshima University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Kagoshima, Japan. His major research interests are sleep bruxism, oral and esophageal functions and implant anchorage.

Teruko Takano-YamamotoDr. Teruko Takano-Yamamoto received her D.D.S. degree from Osaka University in 1975, and her Ph.D. in 1981 from the same university. She is a professor in the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Graduate School of Dentistry, Tohoku University, Sendai, Miyagi, Japan. Her major research interests are cellular and molecular mechanisms of orthodontic tooth movement and mini-implant of orthodontic anchorage.

He is a professor in the Department of Orthodontics, Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University, Okayama, Japan.
