Abstracting and indexing

Open Access
Molecular Membrane Biology is now a fully open access journal. All articles (if accepted) will be available for anyone to read anywhere, at any time, on publication.

Authors of articles published in Molecular Membrane Biology retain the copyright to your article and provide Taylor & Francis with the non-exclusive right to publish the Version of Record under a creative commons license.

If you are not able to act as copyright holder, please get in touch.

Why publish with us?
  • Increased visibility and discoverability: On average, we have eight times more readers for open access articles than for traditionally published articles. Higher readership could result in more citations for your paper.
  • Impact beyond academia: Your article will be made freely and permanently available online to all. Your research could inform and develop public policy and teaching practices, be read by the public, or even be picked up by the media!
  • Retain ownership: Using a creative commons license, you will retain the copyright to your research, granting Taylor & Francis the non-exclusive right to openly publish your research online and deposit it in major indexes such as PubMed Central.

Article publishing charges
The standard article processing charge to publish an article in Molecular Membrane Biology is $1,950 / £1,500 / €1,725. Depending on your location, these charges may be subject to local taxes.

There is no charge on submission. Please see our guide to Open Access for more information. Many funders mandate publishing your research open access; you can check open access funder policies and mandates here. We have agreed a discount on this APC for authors in some institutions. (See our list of open access members for more details.)

Peer review policy
Articles published in Molecular Membrane Biology undergo comprehensive single-blind peer-review. Articles are assessed by an Editor and those suitable, are sent out to two external experts. Peer reviewers know the identity of authors, but anonymized reports are provided to authors to maintain the anonymity of all reviewers. Together with the Editor’s opinion, a decision will then be sent to the authors.

Citing articles in the journal
Citing articles in Molecular Membrane Biology should follow traditional convention.

Open access

Molecular Membrane Biology is an open access journal and only publishes open access articles. Publishing open access means that your article will be free to access online immediately on publication, increasing the visibility, readership, and impact of your research.

Why choose open access?

  1. Increase the discoverability and readership of your article
  2. Make an impact and reach new readers, not just those with easy access to a research library
  3. Freely share your work with anyone, anywhere
  4. Comply with funding mandates and meet the requirements of your institution, employer or funder
  5. Rigorous peer review for every open access article

Article Publishing Charges (APC)

To publish open access in this journal you may be asked to pay an Article Publishing Charge (APC). You may be able to publish your article at no cost to yourself or with a reduced APC if your institution or research funder has an open access agreement or membership with Taylor & Francis. Discounts and waivers may also be available for researchers in selected countries when publishing in open access journals.
