About this journal
Aims and scope
English: Loisir et Société /Society & Leisure is a bilingual, multidisciplinary and thematic journal that publishes on leisure and free time with their relation to cultural, economic and social dimensions of individuals and communities. These dimensions include family, the environment, communication, culture, governance, economy, public service, etc. The journal has an open approach to the concept of leisure and its constant evolution. That is why its production is built around themes that are constantly renewed and topical. Its contents try to balance theoretical or fundamental work and empirical work. From this point of view, the journal also serves the political and professional communities of leisure. These are the distinctive characteristics of the journal and this is what allows the journal to reach readers in more than thirty countries and all continents.
Each thematic number is under the direction of at least one Guest Editor. Each issue has four sections open to contributions: 1) Theme-related articles, 2) Non-thematic articles, 3) Research notes and 4) Book reviews.
The journal has identified some specific objectives: a) make its articles accessible to two scientific cultures (French and English), b) to serve the Québec, Canadian, and International scientific and professional communities, c) to plan the publication of different scientific themes, at least two in advance, d) ensure the participation of Canadian and International researchers in the preparation of its issues.
Peer Review Statement - All articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous (double-anonymized) refereeing by at least two referees.

Understanding and using journal metrics
Journal metrics can be a useful tool for readers, as well as for authors who are deciding where to submit their next manuscript for publication. However, any one metric only tells a part of the story of a journal’s quality and impact. Each metric has its limitations which means that it should never be considered in isolation, and metrics should be used to support and not replace qualitative review.
We strongly recommend that you always use a number of metrics, alongside other qualitative factors such as a journal’s aims & scope, its readership, and a review of past content published in the journal. In addition, a single article should always be assessed on its own merits and never based on the metrics of the journal it was published in.
For more details, please read the Author Services guide to understanding journal metrics.
