About this journal

Aims and scope

Tourism Recreation Research is a multidisciplinary international journal that publishes six issues annually. As one of the pioneer tourism journals, it encourages scholars to submit innovative and impactful papers that focus on tourism and/ or recreation. Tourism and recreation manuscripts that additionally implicate related fields such as hospitality, leisure, events, and sport, are also welcome to the extent that they engage with knowledge integration and the holistic pursuit of contemporary social issues.

Contributions are also encouraged on fundamental research concepts and theories. The journal carries regular features such as Research Note, Post-Published Reviews, and Book Reviews. ‘Research Notes’ provide the opportunity for papers to showcase reliable findings in their field of research. The ‘Post-Published Review’ section has been introduced to capture deep insights into the papers that have already been published in Tourism Recreation Research, and to fill in gaps in the information received. The journal places strong emphasis on original research and readability. We also commission special issues on novel and innovative themes normally at least once a year.

Peer Review Policy

All manuscript submissions are peer reviewed anonymously (double anonymous peer review) by a minimum of two experts referees.
