About this journal

Aims and scope

ISH Journal of Hydraulic Engineering publishes original research works in the areas of hydraulic engineering, water resources, hydrology, environmental engineering, coastal and ocean engineering, oceanography and earth sciences. Theoretical, experimental, computational or field oriented studies leading to advancement of knowledge in these areas are especially welcome. Submissions must report the development of a new technology or an innovative application of an existing one; this could be a new discovery or insight into the existing understanding of a phenomenon. Case studies leading to significantly new knowledge or understanding are also encouraged.

Peer Review Statement

All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to single anonymized peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. Submission is online via ScholarOne Manuscripts.

Open access

ISH Journal of Hydraulic Engineering is a hybrid open access journal that is part of our Open Select publishing program, giving you the option to publish open access. Publishing open access means that your article will be free to access online immediately on publication, increasing the visibility, readership, and impact of your research.

Why choose open access?

  1. Increase the discoverability and readership of your article
  2. Make an impact and reach new readers, not just those with easy access to a research library
  3. Freely share your work with anyone, anywhere
  4. Comply with funding mandates and meet the requirements of your institution, employer or funder
  5. Rigorous peer review for every open access article

Article Publishing Charges (APC)

If you choose to publish open access in this journal you may be asked to pay an Article Publishing Charge (APC). You may be able to publish your article at no cost to yourself or with a reduced APC if your institution or research funder has an open access agreement or membership with Taylor & Francis.

Society information

The Indian Society for Hydraulics ( ISH) was established in 1992 as a forum for Indian national investment on development related to water, energy, transportation and allied fields in the country, and considering the important role of the hydraulic research in maximizing the output from these investment. ISH is a technical, educational and non-profiteering voluntary national organization to encourage and foster understanding amongst engineers, scientists and other technical personnel engaged in various activities related to hydraulics. Official address of the ISH is Central Water and Power Research Station, Khadakwasla, Pune-411024, India.

ISH's objectives are to:

  • provide forum to engineers and scientists working in area of hydraulics and allied disciplines, including research, design and construction for exchange of information
  • disseminate information to persons in the field of hydraulics through seminars / symposiums / workshops
  • hold annual meetings of the society where the technical papers could be presented as also to hold smaller zonal meetings to provide a forum for regional needs
  • publish journal of hydraulic engineering and news letter containing research / review papers, notes, etc
  • liaise with various international societies working in the field of Hydraulics, such as International Association of Hydraulic Research, the International Conference on Coastal Engineering and the Conference of Port and Coastal Engineering in Developing Countries
  • accord recognition to outstanding workers in hydraulics, through suitable awards
