“Being-in-role”: A teaching innovation to enhance empathic communication skills in medical students

Helen is connected to a number of well-established research teams within her specialty areas of addiction medicine and health professional education. She is a member of the Mid-Central Addiction research team and Wellington Health and Biomedical Society; she works closely with workforce development and educational networks including AKO Aotearoa, Collaboration for Interprofessional Clinical Education Research at Otago (CICERO), Centre for Medical and Health Science Education, and the Australia and New Zealand Association of Health Professional Educators (ANZAHPE).

Mark HuthwaiteWellington School of Medicine and Health Sciences, New Zealand; MARK HUTHWAITE is a medical practitioner with his vocational registration in psychiatry. Mark is also a senior lecturer and the convenor for fifth-year medical student training in the Department of Psychological Medicine.
