Publish your research in open access books

Taylor & Francis have been publishing open access books and chapters since 2013. We have collaborated with researchers to build one of the largest open access book and chapter collections and are delighted to be able to showcase content across all subjects covered by Routledge, CRC Press and our other imprints in the humanities, social sciences and behavioral sciences.

With Taylor & Francis open access books:

  • We publish open access content across more than 60 subject areas, so get in touch with an editor to discover more about our subject portfolios.
  • Books can be single-authored or have multiple authors and we offer a range of text types, from monographs to conference proceedings, textbooks to short form titles (titles between 25-50k words).
  • Allow chapter authors and their funders the opportunity to publish individual chapters from a book open access.
  • Offer retrospective open access which allows a book or chapter that has previously been published with Taylor & Francis to be converted to open access.
  • Supports the creation of both partial and fully open access books series, with over 10% of our book series now containing open access content. All open access content is thoroughly peer reviewed and undertakes the same professional production process as our traditionally published titles.
  • We offer full flexibility with the license types available to fit researcher and funder needs.
  • It is our belief that the option to publish open access is available to as many researchers as possible. To help achieve this we offer on the Book Publishing Charges (BPCs) normally required to publish in the Taylor & Francis open access books program to. Contact an editor for more details.
  • Your research will reach a wide audience. All our OA Book titles are hosted on our dedicated eBook platform Taylorfrancis.com and distributed to a wide range of third-party eBook channels, including Amazon and Google Books. All of our open access book content is also deposited in the OAPEN online library and Open Research Library (ORL), as well as archived in Portico to ensure long term preservation. Taylor & Francis is a member of the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), a gold sponsor of OAPEN and a publisher member of the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB).
