Abstract

This study is centered on an interpretation of the academic Spanish Discourse (with a capital D) of a community of professors and administrators in the Borderlands of the US and Mexico. The authors analyze the values, attitudes, norms, beliefs and practices of this academic community as they relate to academic Spanish. The authors conclude that said Discourse reveals clear traces of a kind of benevolent colonization.
