Virulence publishes open access peer-reviewed research on microbial pathogenicity, the infection process and host-pathogen interactions.

Virulence brings together scientists and clinical researchers to address new infectious challenges, emerging infectious agents and antimicrobial resistance. The journal publishes research on the following topics:

  • Microbial pathogenicity–viruses (including HIV/AIDS), bacteria, fungi, and parasites
  • Molecular and biological function of established and novel virulence factors

accepts original research, narrative reviews, systematic reviews, protocols and perspectives.
