Section Editor(s): Eleni Tsiplakou, Agricultural University of Athens (Greece)

Proper management of livestock systems is essential to ensure the health and welfare of the animals, as well as the safety and quality of the products they produce. Effective management involves a range of practices including precision nutrition, healthcare, and organization of facilities, as well as implementing strategies to prevent and control diseases under a biosecurity spectrum. Livestock management practices also impact the environment, and sustainable practices are necessary to minimize negative impacts such as soil erosion, water pollution, and foremost greenhouse gas emissions.
