Virulence Signature Series: Emerging Viral Infections

Created 23 Jul 2024 | 8 articles

Virulence is commemorating 14 years as the elite science journal for microbial pathogenesis and pathogenicity with the definitive set of showpiece signature reviews which describe the current state of understanding of pathogenicity and virulence of the world’s major emerging viral infections and to which we are proud to put our name. These reviews are designed to set the gold standard for the field as a reference set enabling researchers and clinicians to come quickly up to date with the relevant information for understanding the infections with which they are concerned.

Each review is written by acknowledged international experts in the field in an accessible style and is professionally illustrated. They cover our contemporary understanding of each emerging virus, its pathogenicity and virulence characteristics and the pathogenesis that results.

Our signature reviews are all fully open access, peer-reviewed articles. They describe the infection process, host-pathogen interactions and the mechanisms, severity and attenuation of each infectious disease in both infection models and natural infections be they viral, bacterial, fungal or parasitic. They are multidisciplinary and translational in character and scope, consistent with the mission of Virulence to serve the global community of scientists and clinicians working to address new infectious challenges and emerging infectious agents.
