Quality of Government in the Asia Pacific Region
Research about quality of government—what affects effectiveness, integrity, and corruption in government—has flourished in recent years. The research has brought renewed attention to public bureaucracies, what scholars have called the “output” side of government. Public bureaucracies have consistently been linked to a variety of indicators of quality of government, among them the performance of government agencies, economic development, integrity and corruption. This article collection extends empirical research about quality of government, common in North America and Western Europe, to the Asia Pacific region.
