International Cooperation

Created 02 Nov 2023 | 12 articles

Effectively addressing global climate change requires international cooperation. Such international cooperation is embedded in the UN climate regime which includes the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and its full range of decisions and agreements, such as the Paris Agreement. These set out ambitious goals and targets, and establish rules, institutions, and procedures for countries to work together to achieve them. In addition to looking at how this UN climate regime could function more effectively, an increasingly important focus is how it could better engage with actors outside of the negotiations process. This special collection showcases current research on a full range of topics on international cooperation, and the different forms it can take, both within and outside of the UN climate regime.
