Mapping the landscapes and evolutionary processes of ancient coastal areas
The Special Issue PaleoCoasts, collecting twelve case studies from all over the world, focuses on past landscape evolutions, geomorphological processes, human impact and system response, and effects on the anthropic coasts of extreme events in historical and recent times. The evolution maps obtained by integrating advanced mapping criteria and surveying techniques, are effective instruments of comprehension to underline the effects of sudden or secular coastal modifications, taking into account related human influences and adaptations.
