Confronting emerging challenges with interesting and important research in Construction Management and Economics
This collection comprises articles published in Construction Management and Economics from 2020 to 2022 that address, both quantitatively and qualitatively, some of the emerging challenges confronting the production of the built environment. These include e.g. circularity, digitalisation, repair and maintenance, and end-of-life deconstruction. In making the transition towards more socially and environmentally sustainable built environment, these papers present novel methods and arguments to expand our thinking beyond the scale of the construction project or firm. The collection also illustrates the diversity of research that fits within the scope of Construction Management and Economics, including studies that present analysis of past performance and ongoing change, forecasts of and designing possible futures, and critical essays that challenge existing orthodoxies. Having celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022, and as Construction Management and Economics receives an impact factor for the first time in 2023, we hope that the diversity represented in this collection continues so that we can deepen and enrich our knowledge as we confront the grand societal challenges of our time through impactful research published in the journal.
