Trends in Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing
Additive manufacturing (AM), as defined by ISO/ASTM standards, is the general term for those technologies that successively join materials to create physical objectives as specified by 3D model data. It is also commonly called 3D printing. These technologies have advanced and have developed to be capable of producing functional products in various applications in biomedical, aerospace, construction and many more industries. Despite existing advances, research is still ongoing to tap further into the potential of such advanced manufacturing techniques. In this Article Collection, state-of-the-art reviews will highlight the recent trends in AM. These include, but are not limited to, new materials for AM, in-process monitoring and post-process evaluation methods as well as new applications.
