Mitigation Pathways and Clean Energy Transitions
In recent years, research on mitigation has focused on analysing pathways for economic development that would be compatible with 1.5 or 2oC global warming scenarios, along with net zero emissions targets in the mid-century time frame. Such mitigation pathways typically include transformative policies to phase out fossil fuel use and production, scale up of renewable energy and other forms of low emissions energy, and reduction of GHG emissions in transportation, industry, and building sectors as well as energy efficiency and demand-side measures. It also includes sustainable land use and agriculture policies among others. This special collection showcases current research on climate change mitigation pathways toward decarbonization of economies, including through clean energy and just transitions.
