Heterostructured Materials
Heterostructured materials are materials consisting of zones that have dramatically different mechanical and physical properties. This heterogeneity can be induced by microstructure, crystal structure, and/or composition heterogeneity. The strong interactions among heterogeneous zones offer heterostructured materials unprecedent properties over their conventional homogenous counterparts. The superior properties, development of new materials and great application potentials are drawing broad attention in various materials communities. The aim of this collection is to provide the state of the art in processing technology, microstructure optimization and optimal performance for heterostructured materials, and benefit diverse researchers and scientists in multidisciplinary areas, including but not limited to Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering.
